The Dam Pub exterior

The Dam Pub is a warm and cozy upscale Scottish Whisky Pub in the heart of vacationland, just 2 hours north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Dam Pub is owned and operated by Sandy and Gordon Price who, having a passion for detail, have created a true Scottish experience. Sandy and Gordon have a residence in Scotland and are always on the lookout for new and innovative Scotch Whisky to keep ‘The Dam Pub’ abreast of today’s whisky world.

Thornbury is just minutes away from the Blue Mountain ski area, boasting the best skiing in Ontario. This summer sees the opening of Lora Bay Golf Course, a PGA course designed by Tom Lehman. People from around the world come to see the salmon jump the ladder at the Dam on the Beaver River, right in the middle of Thornbury. Sailing and water sports abound from May till September. This is a one stop vacation land with plenty of B&Bs and hotels in the area.

Our pub provides a wee bit of present day Scotland in a very Scottish area of Ontario. No wonder we have been jammed since our opening on 27 October 2005. Over 375 whiskies from around the world including 200 single malts. All this in addition to a well stocked bar. Our beers are second to none with 10 great brews on tap.

Our Guinness and Kilkenny is pulled from our restored 1880 beer pull taps to give you just a wee more flavour to our cozy atmosphere. Our bar and tables were built by cousin Peter, master cabinet maker, using Meaford Oak, which matches the 120 year old restored Meaford oak floors.

The Dam Pub Bar
The Dam Pub Bar Chef Allan Rogalsky has wowed our patrons with outstanding world class gastro pub fare including local dishes from the wilds including Local Rainbow Trout, Pheasant and Venison. The fish supper is an old and secret beer batter recipe passed down through generations of ‘McKay’s’ Sandy’s family heritage. We even make our own cider for hot whiskies on the deck. Besides our standard restaurant and pub fare we offer a wide assortment of daily specials to provide variety for our frequent patrons.

Seating downstairs in the Pub and Beaver Lodge accommodates 60 people. Our private ‘Robbie Burns’ room seats up to 16 for those special occasions and private meetings. If there is a line up you may wish to wait in our upper lounge by the fire. For our skiers and sailors who prefer to sit outside, our deck accommodates 53. And then there is the porch for our cigar smokers, complete with a radiant gas heater to keep Jack Frost at bay.

Our special events include; whisky tastings, private parties, dinners to celebrate holidays such as Hogmanay and the Robbie Burns Supper.

The Robbie Burns lounge
Look for the Saltaire and Lion Rampant flying at 40 feet on top of the hill. That’s us!!
